I was just watching the new episode of “Lost in Transmission” and they built one of these.
Sure the bed is kinda small, and the cargo capacity isn’t going to be very good. But it would be awesome to own one of these.

I think you’re selling short the utility of even a short bed. I had a VW Rabbit pickup with a bed cap, and it was a random shit hauler par excellence - serious weight hauling isn’t that critical a lot of the time.

They’ve been knockin around on tdiclub for a little while now. Really great for someone who wants the UTE and a great lil diesel engine.

Q: Is that a smooth place to haul your beer?
A:
Always

I am not knocking it all, 95% of the time it would fit my needs perfectly, the other 5% of the time, Home Depot rents pickup’s. I am pretty sure the fuel savings from the diesel would more than make up for the occasional need to rent a bigger truck.

Mine had no power, sure, but between 40 and 50 highway MPG for a college stuff hauler was nothing to be sneezed at.

It’s got plenty of cargo capacity, based on what a normal Jetta can do I bet this thing would be amazing for hauling.

I think I need to get on there and look into this.

I forgot all about that, I bet this thing could haul enough stuff to build a 2000sqft house.
